Product Questions
Where is your matcha from?

Our ceremonial grade matcha is sourced from Kyoto, Japan, a region known for producing some of the highest quality matcha in the world.

What grade is the matcha?

We use ceremonial grade matcha made from handpicked tencha leaves and traditionally stone-ground into a fine powder.

What does ceremonial grade mean?

Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest quality matcha, designed to be enjoyed on its own with water. It has a smooth, vibrant flavour with natural sweetness and gentle umami.

Is your matcha organic?

Our matcha is grown using organic farming practices and is certified organic in Japan.

IS YOUR MATCHA TESTED FOR HEAVY METALS?

Yes. Our matcha is tested for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiological contaminants to ensure it meets strict Japanese food safety standards. Lead and arsenic were not detected, and the matcha complies with Japanese food safety regulations.

WHAT DOES YOUR MATCHA TASTE LIKE?

Our matcha has a smooth, full-bodied flavour with a pleasant balance of natural sweetness, gentle bitterness, and umami. It is slightly stronger in character than some matchas, giving it a rich, satisfying taste whether enjoyed traditionally or as a latte.

We love drinking it on its own, where its complexity can really shine, but it also pairs beautifully with milk. Unlike some lighter matchas, the flavour still comes through in lattes and works well alongside ingredients such as vanilla, honey, or your preferred sweetener.

How should I store my matcha?

Store your matcha in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Reseal tightly after use to keep it fresh.

How long does matcha stay fresh?

For the best flavour and colour, we recommend enjoying your matcha within 1–2 months after opening.

What’s the difference between the tin and refill pouch?

Both contain the same ceremonial grade matcha. The tin is designed for first-time purchase and long-term storage, while the pouch is a refill option to reduce packaging waste.

Do I need a bamboo whisk?

A bamboo whisk (chasen) is recommended for the smoothest texture, but you can also use a handheld frother or shaker bottle.

Does matcha contain caffeine?

Yes. Matcha naturally contains caffeine, but many people find the energy feels calmer and more balanced compared to coffee.

Are your products vegan?

Yes — our matcha is 100% pure stone-ground green tea with no additives or sweeteners.

How many servings are in a 30g tin?

Depending on preparation style, each 30g tin contains approximately 10–15 servings.

Can I use matcha in baking or smoothies?

Yes. While our matcha is ceremonial grade and beautiful on its own, it can also be used in lattes, smoothies, desserts, and baking.

WHY IS MATCHA EXPENSIVE?

Matcha is one of the most labour-intensive teas in the world.

Several weeks before harvest, the tea plants are carefully shaded to increase chlorophyll and amino acid content. Only the youngest leaves are selected, harvested, steamed, dried, and processed into tencha before being slowly stone-ground into an ultra-fine powder.

Traditional stone mills can take up to an hour to produce just 30–40 grams of matcha. Combined with the skill, care, and time required throughout cultivation and production, this is what makes high-quality matcha so special.

WHY IS MY MATCHA CLUMPING?

Matcha naturally absorbs moisture from the air, which can sometimes cause small clumps to form.

This is completely normal and does not affect quality. For the smoothest cup, we recommend sifting your matcha before whisking or breaking up any small clumps with your whisk as you prepare it.

Storing your matcha in a cool, dry place and keeping the container tightly sealed will help minimise clumping.

CAN I USE HOT WATER WITH MATCHA?

Yes, but water that is too hot can make matcha taste bitter and reduce some of its delicate flavours.

We recommend using water around 60–80°C, depending on how you enjoy it. For a smoother, sweeter cup, use cooler water. For a stronger flavour, use slightly hotter water.

Avoid pouring boiling water directly onto matcha.

IS THE TIN REUSABLE?

Yes. Our signature tin is designed to be reused long after your first tin of matcha is finished.

About Another Matcha
WHO IS BEHIND ANOTHER MATCHA?

Another Matcha was founded by twin sisters with a shared love of matcha and simple, thoughtful living.

One of us spent six years living in the countryside of Japan, where matcha and green tea became part of everyday life. The other discovered matcha through travel, creativity, and a love of food, hospitality, and bringing people together.

Together, we created Another Matcha to share the quality, care, and enjoyment that first made us fall in love with it.

WHY DID YOU START ANOTHER MATCHA?

Another Matcha was founded by twin sisters who discovered matcha through different paths.

One of us spent six years living in the countryside of Japan, immersed in everyday life, farming, and traditional ways of living. The other discovered matcha through travel, creativity, and a love of thoughtful moments shared over food and drink.

Although our journeys were different, we found ourselves drawn to the same thing. Matcha was rarely just one cup. It often became another conversation, another catch-up, another reason to slow down and spend time together.

That feeling stayed with us and eventually became the foundation for Another Matcha.

Today, Another Matcha is our way of sharing that experience with others.

WHY THE NAME "ANOTHER MATCHA"?

The name began as a simple observation. Whenever there was matcha, there was usually the desire for another one.

Another cup. Another conversation. Another slow morning. Another moment shared with friends.

The best things are often the ones we come back to.

While trends come and go, matcha has been enjoyed for centuries. We created Another Matcha with the same intention, not as something to try once, but as something worth returning to.

A matcha you'll want another of.
