Another Matcha Story

Another Matcha is a modern matcha brand inspired by the beauty of slowing down.

We believe some of life's most meaningful moments are often the simplest, a quiet morning before the day begins, a pause between tasks,

a conversation shared over a cup of tea, or a moment to be fully present.

Our ceremonial grade matcha is sourced from Kyoto, Japan, a region renowned for producing some of the world's finest tea. Made from carefully cultivated tencha leaves and traditionally stone-ground into a vibrant green powder, it is selected for its smooth flavour, balanced character, and everyday drinkability.

But Another Matcha is about more than what is in the cup.

It is about making space for small moments of care and attention in everyday life. Choosing quality over excess. Finding enjoyment in simple things. Creating products that are used often, shared generously, and returned to again and again.

We created Another Matcha to offer something both simple and meaningful, exceptional matcha, thoughtfully sourced, beautifully presented, and made to become part of everyday life.

Our Story

Another Matcha was founded by twin sisters who discovered matcha through different paths.

One of us spent six years living in the countryside of Japan, immersed in everyday life, farming, and traditional ways of living. The other discovered it through travel, creativity, and a love of thoughtful moments shared over food and drink.

Although our journeys were different, we found ourselves drawn to the same thing. Matcha was rarely just one cup. It often became another conversation, another catch-up, another reason to slow down and spend time together.

That feeling stayed with us and eventually became the foundation for Another Matcha.

Today, Another Matcha is our way of sharing that experience with others.

Why Matcha?

For centuries, matcha has been enjoyed throughout Japan as part of daily life, hospitality, and tea culture.

Unlike most teas, where the leaves are steeped and discarded, matcha is made by whisking finely stone-ground tea leaves directly into water. This means the entire leaf is consumed, creating a vibrant green drink with a rich flavour and distinctive character.

Many people enjoy matcha as an alternative to coffee, appreciating its balanced energy and versatility. It can be prepared traditionally, enjoyed as a latte, served over ice, or incorporated into baking and cooking.

For us, however, matcha's appeal goes beyond its flavour or function. It offers an invitation to pause, prepare something with care, and enjoy the present moment.

From Leaf to Cup

Long before matcha reaches your cup, it begins in the tea fields of Kyoto.

In the weeks before harvest, tea plants are carefully shaded from the sun. This traditional practice encourages the leaves to develop their vibrant green colour and rich depth of flavour.

When the leaves are ready, only the youngest and most tender are selected. They are harvested, gently steamed to preserve freshness, then carefully dried. The stems and veins are removed, leaving behind what is known as tencha — the precious leaf used to make matcha.

The tencha is then rested, evaluated, and selected for quality before being slowly ground using traditional stone mills into the fine powder we know as matcha.

The process is meticulous and time-consuming, but that is part of what makes matcha so special. Every cup represents months of cultivation, craftsmanship, and care.

A simple drink, with an extraordinary journey behind it.
